"The body is a teacher to live life fully."
Arnold Mindell

Process Oriented Psychology (Process Work) was developed by Arnold Mindell, a physicist by training, who became a Jungian analyst and founded Process Work in Zurich, Switzerland during the 80’s. He is now based in Portland Oregan and author of many books - my favourite: The Shaman's Body.
Mindell coined the term dreambody to describe the patterns that express themselves in our body and in our night time dream images. 'In Process Work we focus on the body to gain access to the wisdom of nature and the creative process that is emerging through our body signals and symptoms.' (Jean-Claude Audergon – in New Dimensions in Body Psychotherapy, 2005) Process Work is rooted in Shamanism and Alchemy adding the dynamic of Taoism and Quantum Theory. It is a practice, being an awareness activist, where we develop and expand our awareness to access what we need or is emerging in our life. We step over our edges or learn to nagivate our edges to feel more fulfilled and resourced, living closer to our unique purpose in life.
How I work
In sessions with clients I explore habitual patterns and allow possible new ways of being. This can be in conversation, movement or whatever else shows up in the moment.
I work in Edinburgh and Linlithgow in person and/or remote on zoom globally.
What I offer
One to one sessions where we explore in the moment what information becomes available that you need in your life or for a project.
Couples (partners or friends) who want to explore their relationship ( the good, the bad, the amazing and the myth of the relationship).
Groups and organisations where we unfold the major themes in the group's psyche trusting the wisdom of the group body.
In a session
We work with words, with dreams, altered states, (interoceptive) body sensations, and much more. You bring a topic or issue you want to work on (be it a relationship issue; trauma; recurring body symptoms; a night time dream; a creative project you feel stuck with).
Time and cost
One to one sessions is an hour long - we work for 50 minutes. For couples it could be longer (we agree sessions individually). Sometimes it will be one session that evokes a deep experience, sometimes it becomes a longer journey you take. The cost for a one to one session is £45 (there is a sliding scale available, for low wage, and also if you book 4 consecutive sessions). Please ask me. The cost for couples will be £40 each, sliding scale is available for low wage.
About my journey
I am a Process Oriented Psychotherapist, and did a rigorous training with Processwork UK over 10 years that challenged me deeply and provocatively to become more of who I am. I get regular supervision and all personal content will be kept confidential - this will be discussed with you at the first session. I am a registered UKCP member and member of ISMETA.

"5 Rhythms gives me a huge sense of freedom and gives me the opportunity to dance without inhibition which I feel deep gratitude for. It also helps me to keep my body in balance and release any tension which builds up. When I dance, I feel more centred and connected to my body and it helps me get out of the trap of constantly being 'stuck in my head’. It’s also the best way for me to change my mood or state. Combining the classes with one to one sessions is helping me get more deeply immersed into the practice which is wonderful." 5Rhythms dancer.
