In each session we will explore how our bodies move, how we relate from the different places inside us to meet others, the world, and stay true to who we are. Dream Doors - in person in Edinburgh
Dream doors - Because the world needs us
Dream Doors, a series of Saturday afternoon workshops, providing space explore different themes in movement. Ultimately by getting to know myself, I move closer to self compassion – because I do not have to fulfil or live something that is not me. I do not have to respond to any demand from outside or internal. I become my biggest project.
What happens when I follow myself with congruency in the dance, shifting and changing? I might feel lighter and have a different mood by the end of a dance session. But how does this support me in my life? How can I bring this back into my daily life?
Noticing I am not just a body moving, but a host of subtle sensations, impulses, experiences. I am a process, alive, moving and even if I feel stuck, I never remain stuck for long, because stuck is a signal, an impulse that needs to be expressed and felt and experienced, like all the others. I listen, I express, and experience in the movement. And the listening makes it a mindful experience, not just something that happens under the radar that I don’t know about.
That is important because the mindful part gives it reality, makes it real, not a figment of my imagination, not something that happens to me and I am the victim of. It creates change.
Process Work provides a way to understand, integrate, incorporate into my life what I have expressed and experienced. It supports me to notice what I want to change, or where I need support, where I want to learn to love myself, or be more creative in life. It helps me to delve deeper into an experience. It facilitates the movement of experience to go all the way and complete the Gestalt or to notice the edge or boundary. It facilitates when I am in difficult places, to move beyond what feels dire, to notice the holes I fall into over and over, to become aware of my patterns.
Knowing myself becomes the goal and that does not have an end. It is always a new beginning – a fresh start, a new way to see, and be myself. I am not stuck, or fully formed, or an established piece, I am fluid and ever growing. That excites me!
